The type of foundations will include foundations for bridge\, truss\, cantilever\, strain pole\, mast arm\, noise wall\, DMS\, concrete spun pole\, cable barrier end terminals\, light tower\, and light standards foundations. The course will cover all aspects of the drilled shaft construction process from preconstruction documentation\, construction methods for both wet and dry shaft conditions\, to post construction review\, integrity testing and acceptance. Major course items include an overview of a typical drilled shaft foundation construction including\; construction equipment and tooling\, general construction methods for both wet and dry shaft conditions\, shaft excavation and cleaning\, obstructions\, concrete placement for both wet and dry shafts\, and post construction integrity testing and acceptance. Other course topics will include\; proper submittal and review of the Drilled Shaft Installation Plan\, discussion of Section 718 of the 2020 MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction\, and plan reading for relevant drilled shaft information.
