FK Engineering Associates was founded in 2012 as a full service geotechnical and underground engineering firm, specializing in innovative solutions to complex infrastructure engineering challenges. FKE offers services to local and state governments, other engineering design firms, industry, and contractors. With extensive experience in underground engineering, we are proud to offer unique and cost-effective solutions for our client’s varied infrastructure needs.

FKE specializes in heavy infrastructure engineering, particularly tunnel and shaft design, retaining walls, geotechnical instrumentation, groundwater dewatering analysis, infrastructure rehabilitation, and cost/risk analysis, as well as all aspects of field engineering and construction oversight related to such services.  We have designed hundreds tunnel linings (up to 25 feet diameter), hundreds of shafts (up to 75-foot diameter and up to 250 feet deep), and hundreds of retaining walls.  Our wide range of design, analysis, and field engineering services are summarized:

The FKE team has a proven record in southeast Michigan and is licensed to provide engineering services in 28 other states.  We have over 50 professional staff working together from our Madison Heights location providing creative and effective solutions throughout the design and construction process.  We currently provide service to over 30 municipal entities in the United States and Canada (directly and indirectly).  

FKE was recognized by ACEC/MI as 2020 Small Firm of the Year, we are listed by Crains Detroit as one of the top 50 companies to work, and we are ranked in the top 35 national underground engineering firms by Trenchless Technology Magazine.  FKE is recognized by SBAM as a Small Business Enterprise, and we are registered in the US-SAM as a qualifying Small Business.
