ACEC/MICHIGAN ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Lansing, Michigan – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan) has announced Chuck Gemayel, PE as its 2026-2027 President.

Chuck Gemayel, PE, is the Executive Vice President at SME, headquartered in Plymouth, MI. Chuck progressed from Staff Engineer to his current role as Executive Vice President and recently transitioned from his previous role as Chief Operating Officer as part of the firm’s leadership transition and succession plan.

An expert in pavement design, management, and evaluation, Chuck is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and an MS from Arizona State University.

Outside of SME, Chuck has served on ACEC/Michigan’s Board of Directors most recently as President-Elect, the Planning Cabinet of ACEC National, and the executive committee of ACEC’s Geoprofessional Coalition. He has also been involved with the Transportation Research Board and ASCE’s Airfield Pavement Committee, and he served as President of South Oakland County Municipal Engineers (SOCME).

Chuck is married to Jano Gemayel and has three children. He is active in the Lebanese American Community and played a key role in developing the St. Sharbel Church complex in Clinton Twp., Michigan.
